When a child is accidentally locked inside a vehicle, every second matters. That’s why Pop-A-Lock of Kentucky is proud to participate in the PAL Saves Kids® program, providing free emergency vehicle unlocks for children locked inside cars throughout our service area.
Recently, LEX 18 News featured our team and the PAL Saves Kids® program, helping raise awareness about this life-saving service and reminding parents and caregivers how quickly these emergencies can happen.
A Free Service That Helps Save Lives
No parent ever expects to accidentally lock a child inside a vehicle, but it can happen in just a moment. A child may press the lock button, keys may be left inside, or a brief distraction during a busy day can lead to an emergency.
Even on days that don’t feel especially hot, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise rapidly, making it critical to act immediately.
Through the PAL Saves Kids® program, Pop-A-Lock of Kentucky provides free emergency vehicle unlocking services whenever a child is accidentally locked inside a car. The program exists to help families during frightening situations—without judgment and at no cost. Since its creation, PAL Saves Kids® has helped rescue thousands of children across the country.
What To Do If a Child Is Locked in a Vehicle
If you discover a child locked inside a vehicle:
- Call 911 immediately.
- Then contact Pop-A-Lock of Kentucky for emergency assistance.
- Stay with the child and follow the guidance of emergency responders until help arrives.
The safety of the child should always come first.
Before You Walk Away: Stop. Look. Lock.
The best way to prevent these emergencies is to build one simple habit into your daily routine. Before you lock your vehicle and walk away, take one last moment to stop, look inside, and make sure every child is out of the car. That simple habit can prevent a tragic mistake.
Whether you’re coming home from work, leaving the grocery store, or dropping the kids off at daycare, taking just a few extra seconds to check your vehicle can make all the difference.
